ITINERARY

Day 1 – Rio de Janeiro

Arrival in the Airport of Rio and transfer to your hotel. Rest of day free.

Meals Included: none

Day 2 - Rio de Janeiro

Full day tour of Rio.  Ride to the top of Corcovado Mountain by train. Panoramic view of the city. Tijuca Forest, it's exuberance and beauty. Visit to Taunay Falls in Tijuca Forest. Drive by Barra da Tijuca and southern Rio Beaches.  Lunch at typical Brazilian barbecue place.

Visit to the Metropolitan cathedral and sightseeing of the architectonic monuments of Rio. Pass by the Maracanã Soccer Stadium, returning by the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon. Go up to the top of Sugar Loaf Mountain, viewing the city from the suspended Cable Car.

Optional tour - At night, don't miss the opportunity to see a Samba Show, on the tour Rio by night

Meals Included: breakfast at hotel and lunch during the tour.

Day 3 - Rio de Janeiro

Day free to explore Rio. 

You can relax in one of the famous beaches (Copacabana, Ipanema, etc), do some shopping or join another tour.

Optional tours -  Angra dos Reis, Ilha Grande, Petropolis, Tropical Islands (full day tours). 

Day 4 – Rio de Janeiro / Iguassu Falls

Transfer to the airport and fly to Foz do Iguassu. On arrival transfer to hotel. Rest of day free.

Optional tours - In the afternoon, depending on time of arrival, Brazilian side of the falls. The Brazilian side of the falls offers a more complete overview of the falls. Great for taking some excellent pictures. It's also possible to combine the Brazilian side with a  Boat ride to the Bottom of the Falls. This tour consists of an adventurous boat ride (in a big R.I.B). It takes you to the base of the falls (be prepared for a wet ride). An adventure not to be missed! 

Day 5 - Iguassu Falls

Tour to the Argentinean side of the falls. Entering the National Park, you will go on a short train ride and walk through the scenic forest, viewing different angles from the Iguaçu upper falls, including the San Martin Falls. You will have a close look at the " Throat´s Devil", with it's amazing amount of water rushing down the fall. On the way back from the falls, tour stops at the Argentinean shopping district, and if weather and time allows, a brief stop at the 3-borders point, where Parana and Iguaçu rivers as well as borders of Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay meet.

Optional tour - In the afternoon, Itaipu Dam Tour. At night, Dinner and Latin Dancing Show at a typical brazilian barbecue restaurant.

Day 6 – Iguassu Falls / Manaus

Transfer to airport and fly to Manaus. Transfer to hotel. Rest of day free.

Optional tour - (depending on time of arrival) City tour to see the main sites of Manaus.

Day 7 – Manaus / Jungle Lodge

In the morning, transfer to the Jungle Lodge by regional boat.

Tours during your stay in the jungle depend on the Jungle Lodge chosen.

Normally its included: a sunrise tour. guided walks in the Amazon forest, a visit to a native village and house,  piranha fishing, observation of "botos " (fresh water dolphins), visit to a fluvial beach, alligator spotting and boat rides among the creeks.
Meals Included: breakfast in Manaus, lunch and dinner in the Jungle Lodge.

Day 8 - Jungle Lodge

Local tours as described on Day 7.

Meals Included: full board

Day 10 - Jungle Lodge/ Salvador

Transfer to airport in Manaus and fly to Salvador. Transfer to hotel. Rest of day free.

Day 11 - Salvador

Historical City Tour - Starting point of the Brazilian History, Salvador has the most precious patrimony of colonial architecture of Brazil. Our visit will start at the fort of “SANTO ANTÔNIO DA BARRA”, known as the “FAROL DA BARRA” (lighthouse of Barra), then going up to the Cidade Alta (the upper town), along the Corredor da Vitória, 2nd of July Square and the Theater Castro Alves. But the main interest of our tour will be for the “PELOURINHO” area, pointed by the UNESCO as the most important colonial complex  of the XVII and XVIII centuries still existing in the world. There we will see the church of “SÃO FRANCISCO DE ASSIS” known as the golden church; the place where the slaves were sold and punished, the Museum of the City, and the church and museum of the Carmelites. Visit to the Market Modelo, the biggest handcraft market of the city, with a stop for shopping. Visit a Silver handicraft shop.

Meals included in the program are detailed in the following chart.

Accommodation:

Double rooms can have separate beds or not. A third person depending on the hotel has the possibility of using a sofa bed. Consult for children policy.  

Payment:

Deposit of 30% to guarantee your reservation. The remaining amount must be paid a minimum 30 days before start of the tour. If reservation is made within 30 days of the tour full payment required to make a reservation.   

Cancellation:

Up to 30 days before full refund is given unless the flight tickets have been emitted. In this case there will be a penalty due to the cancellation of the tickets. This depends on the rules of the airline used.  No refund is given when a cancellation is made within 30 days of departure.  

Operation of tour:

Minimum of 1 pax to operate.

Brasil Travel / Melchior & Hodson Ltda and/or agencies involved with the packages, flights and tours shall act only as agents of the tour members in making arrangements for hotels and any other services and do not assume any liability what so ever for any injury, damage, death, loss, accident or delay to persons or property due to an act of God, default by any hotel, company or person rendering any of services included on the tours or flights. Furthermore, no responsability is accepted for quarentine, government restrains, weather or other causes beyond control. No responsability is accepted for any additional expenses, omissions, delays, re-routing or acts of government authority.
